Fall November 09, 2010
I'm working on a new painting for fall. I like it so far. You can see my progress on it by clicking the Works in Progress link on the Studio menu above.
Portraits May 18, 2010
I dove into painting portraits and learning oil painting at the same time. Bad idea. So I decided to take it a little slower. I'm learning oil painting by doing landscapes first. So far oils and I don't mix, but I'm going to stick with it for a while and see where it goes.
Drawing and Stretching March 01, 2010
I'm still working on the Grist Mill when I have time. I've been focusing a lot on drawing over the past month in order to get ready to spend some time learning portrait painting. Print sales have been pretty popular. I now completely understand why the local art store charges so much for stretching canvases. That's work.
Prints Available! February 06, 2010
You can now order prints of certain works at significantly lower prices than the prices of the originals. Paintings are printed full sized on cotton canvas just like the original and can be shipped rolled up for cheaper shipping. Contact me if you are interested in a certain piece. Not all works are available as prints yet, but I am taking requests!
Prints February 01, 2010
I'm going to start offering prints of my work. I'm having samples of my work printed at a local sign shop. So far they look awesome. This will enable me to offer my work for considerably lower prices. I'll be adding the information to the site soon, but for now if you are interested just contact me for details.
The New Painting November 10, 2009
Grist Here's what I'm working on now. It's based on a photo that I found on PBase.com. I've already gotten permission from the photographer to base a painting on it.
Where am I? October 29, 2009
The last painting I did was "Patient Fisherman" which I did for my grandmother and showed her in the hospital after her operation. Unfortunately she spent the following three months in intensive care where she died of repiratory failure. It's been dificult to lose the last of my living ancestors, but with God's presence and the support of family we are working through it. I hope to be returning to the canvas soon.
Winsor & Newton Art Contest April 29, 2009
I entered an art contest hosted by Winsor & Newton to win art supplies. If you have a minute I'd really appreciate your vote at http://acrylics.winsornewton.com/en/win/gallery/view/403/. There is no subscription necessary to vote. Thank you!
Painting People August 11, 2008
SatinDressSketch.jpg I'm trying my hand at painting people. This is a sketch to get started. The reference is of a member of the deviantArt community named Mikaela (http://tw1stedtruth-stock.deviantart.com/).
New Practice Painting Complete July 31, 2008
FirstLight.jpg I've been working on a Yarnell reproduction from a book of his I have. The progress has been posted on my Facebook account. Here is what I ended up with. I'm trying to figure out what to work on next. I'd like to do an original, but I'm not sure of what just yet.
Doodles November 02, 2007
doodles.jpg There hasn't been a lot of time for any serious art lately. I've finished up a painting which I will be adding to the site soon. You can also see a little Photoshop work I did with a Halloween picture of my son in the Digital gallery. A friend also wanted a henna tattoo as part of her costume for Halloween so I broke out the henna and did a couple of tattos that I'll be adding soon as well.
Columbus Artists' Guild Member Exhibition September 19, 2007
I visited the show over the weekend to see the other works and to see who won awards. Unfortunately I was not among those with a ribon. It looked like people were the popular subject with the judge. My strategy of entering with a local interest subject didn't pay off this time. On to the next show...
Thank You Beta Testers September 13, 2007
I've had a few kind volunteers testing for the past couple of days and everything is looking good. I'll be sending out the word later today that the site is open and ready to use via the Newsletter. Thank you to those who volunteered to test. Please continue to provide feedback so I can work out any bugs that pop up as the site goes live. I still have some other features in mind. I'll be adding those going forward. Please visit often to see the updates and to keep up to date on happenings with my studio.
Welcome beta testers September 11, 2007
Thank you for taking the time to test my new site before it is announced to the public. I’m pretty happy with the colors and the layout, but I will take suggestions on those into consideration. The main thing I need is for you guys to try the site out as anonymous users, then create accounts and try out the features for registered users. Please let me know if you have any trouble creating accounts, logging in or out, or using any of the features of the site. I’d like to know if there are things that are broken or things that are just plain unintuitive or annoying. I know the ad banner is annoying, but it will go away when I go live with the site and actually pay for my hosting. Also, I don’t have custom error pages turned on yet. This is intentional so that you can see any actual errors that you get. Please copy and paste the contents into an email and send it my way if you run into any. When the site goes live I will be deleting all the user accounts, comments and blog entries so don’t create anything you plan to keep for posterity. Just wait until the site goes live. Again, Thank you for your help!
